Compete in silly games

IF you are without tickets for this year’s London 2012 Olympics, a visit to Stoke-by-Nayland on Saturday might prove the perfect alternative.

The village is hosting its own version of the famous games with a twist – silly Olympic games, including gymnastics on a bouncy castle and shot putt using coconuts.

Julia Stansfield, who is organising the day at the recreation ground, in School Street, which takes place from 11am to 3pm, said it will be a bit of fun for all the family.

“Performance doesn’t matter, it is the taking part that counts,” she said. “The medals are made of real metal and inscribed to commemorate the event.”

Other Olympic-themed silly games include a sprint bungee run, an equestrian event with an unridable horse and various track and field events.
