Choir to mark first year

HADLEIGH Community Choir has been going from strength to strength since it was formed earlier this year, and it now has a Christmas concert planned for friends and family.

Organiser Peter Finch said the choir had appointed a musical director, Julia Miller, and the Christmas concert would take place at the Baptist Church on December 8.

“The concert is for our family members and invited friends only and it will include Christmas songs and music, solo performances and carols,” he said. “The whole idea is to have a fun evening and round off our first year with a proper concert and raise funds for the choir.”

The choir, which is around 100-people strong, has a new uniform with bow ties for the men and matching scarves for the women, with colours taken from the Hadleigh town crest which the town council has agreed to the choir using as its official logo.

Currently, the choir’s membership list is closed as it has reached capacity but anyone who would like to register for a place can send their name, address and telephone number in an email to choir@opensecret.co.uk.

The choir meets on Thursday nights, 7.15pm for a 7.30pm start, at St Joseph’s Church hall, in Long Bessels.
