Back to the Tudor times
JOIN THE PARADE: The pageant procession gets in full swing at Kentwell Hall.
VISITORS to Kentwell Hall were transported back to the 16th century and the Tudor way of life at the weekend.
The stately home in Long Melford was overflowing with peasants and clergymen as well as lords and ladies on Saturday and Sunday, for a Tudor pageant event set in 1556.
Young and old got a glimpse the period’s food, dress and celebrations, and a procession made its way through the grounds.
A restaging of the Battle of Agincourt, of 1415, also took place.
Patrick Phillips, who has owned the hall since 1970, said a steady stream of people witnessed the events.
“Everyone who came was very positive and said they enjoyed it hugely,” Mr Phillips said.
“It was only the second time we have held the battle and it was a very active weekend with many under-currents, which helped bring the Tudor period to life.”
l This weekend Kentwell will host a Tudor Fair, running from 11am to 5pm on each day, with games, music and entertainment.
