St Edmundsbury Council wins official praise

Innovative recycling, strong environmental performance, high satisfaction levels and focus on keeping the area clean and green have helped St Edmundsbury Borough Council to an "excellent" rating from a national watchdog.
Audit Commission inspectors have taken a close look at everything the council, which covers Clare and Cavendish, does.

It scored just two points off the maximum in the "excellent" category.

No council has scored higher.

The inspectors' report states: "The council is performing strongly in relation to its environment policy."
