May, to my mind, offers the greatest delights to both gardener and cook. Colours in our gardens are now reflected in the feast of vegetables in shops and markets.
A flavour of spring
Let's pretend, especially if it's snowing and bitterly cold outside as it has been, that it's one of those balmy spring days that catch us unawares, and our thoughts and efforts in the kitchen turn to the light and frivolous.
Soup it up in March
At the beginning of this month we have Mothering Sunday, and at the end of the month we have Easter – two important events in the calendar for us to celebrate.
Mother's Day special - bake her a cake!
As each year passes traditions change. Instead of the traditional Simnel Cake given to mothers on Mother's Day, which falls on March 2 this year, flowers have become the established gift.
