COUNTLESS cakes were devoured and copious amounts of tea guzzled as staff at Lavenham Tourist Information Centre held a tea party.

The centre in Lady Street ran the event on Monday to raise money for Marie Curie Cancer – a charity which provides end of life care to terminally ill people in their own homes.

Lisa Francis, assistant manager, said the party had been well attended with £118 being collected.

“It was very busy all throughout the day and we had lots people coming to see us,” she said.

“We raise money for Marie Curie every year and are pleased the party went so well.”

A table sale raising proceeds for the cause will continue at the centre for the reminder of the week.
