Sometimes it pays to clown around

A STEADY stream of visitors and generous donations helped a care home raise £800 at the weekend.

Melford Court Care Home in Long Melford held its annual summer fete on Saturday and staff, residents and families all turned out to make the event a record breaker.

During the day, cakes were decorated before being auctioned off, a clown was on hand to capture the attention of the crowds and a singer led the musical entertainment.

Marilyn Green, activities co-ordinator at the home in Hall Street, said the fete was enjoyed by all.

“It went very well and everybody had a good time,” she said.

“We were very pleased with the whole thing and £800 is the most we have ever raised from our summer fete.”

The money will be used to boost the home’s residents’ fund, allowing them to take trips to the coast and other popular attractions throughout the year.
