Queue scuffles

IT was a warm sunny afternoon. We were early, so decided to sit awhile and rest our worn out feet from their weary wanderings. Soon things began to get busy around us, the hustle and bustle of more feet, chattering voices, the rustle of bags both paper and plastic. I rose to my feet, my daughter beside me, it was time to go.

Then, all of a sudden, all hell seemed to break loose. There were arms, elbows, bags and sticks from all directions pushing and shoving, moaning and groaning. Was I in the middle of a frantic rugby scrum? No! I was at Ipswich Bus Station awaiting my ride home on the number 91 bus, surrounded by pensioners from all walks of life.

I have never seen such dreadful behaviour as they pushed and grabbed their way towards the waiting bus. Orderly queue? What orderly queue? It was ridiculous, rude and unnecessary.

I don’t travel by bus very often and this reminded me why. The elderly are so quick to judge the youth of today in their actions. Well I say some OAPs can be equally, if not more, rude, abusive, obnoxious, unthoughtful and ignorant. All the things they label the teens with.

I can see why people don't like public transport, I certainly won't be giving up my car in a hurry.
