Pupils are road safe
AROUND 100 Acton Primary School pupils marched around the village to highlight speeding issues on Wednesday.
The event was organised as part of road safety charity Brake’s annual giant walking bus, which involved 100,000 children across the country.
The children were joined by 25 parents and school staff, Suffolk county and Babergh district councillors, Suffolk highways engineer Ross Corbyn and Pcso Siobhan Hemmett, who has been working with the school to raise awareness of road safety and speeding, in the lead-up to the walk.
Year One teacher Jackie Goodwin said: “It went really well, the children learned an awful lot and had great fun on the walk.”
Pcso Hemmett explained: “Speeding is an issue in Acton and events like these can really help to raise the profile of the problem by bringing the community together as one.”
