Music for the masses in Bures

A POPULAR village music festival, which has raised more than £120,000 for good causes, is under way.

Bures Music Festival, now in its 16th year, kicked off yesterday evening and runs until Sunday.

The event, taking place at Bures Recreation Ground and the village’s St Mary’s Church, features music from a string of bands, camping and stalls.

Originally known as Jazz by the Stour, the festival has raised £125,000 for charity since 1997.

Acts include indie band This Boy Wonders, Two Steps Twice and Robbie Gladwell, of Steve Harley’s Cockney Rebel fame, with his band.

Ticket prices have been lowered this year to encourage more families to the event.
