TREMENDOUS tiger pictures wowed a Great Cornard children’s author at a book signing on Saturday.

Rebecca Elliott, of Beech Road, was at WH Smith in Sudbury to launch her latest children’s book, The Last Tiger, and was swamped by around 100 entries to a tiger drawing competition.

“It was fantastic – we had an amazing number of entries,” said Rebecca, whose previous books include Zoo Girl and Sometimes.

“Lots of local schools and libraries got involved, which was great.”

Three winners were chosen by Rebecca, who also read The Last Tiger and did a live drawing, with the top prize of an original artwork from the book going to seven-year-old Frankie Walker, from Bures.

A special prize was also given to George Nunn, 11, from Hillside Special School, which Rebecca’s daughter and star of her earlier books, Clemmie, attends.
