Donor service in Long Melford

POTENTIAL blood donors are being encouraged to head to Long Melford this Thursday.

NHS Blood and Transplant will have a mobile unit set up in the village hall car park from 1pm to 7pm.

Derek Carr, spokesman for the service, said: “It only takes one donation to help save and treat up to three lives so giving blood can make a huge difference to patients in need.”

Anyone wanting to donate for the first time should be aged between 17-65, weighing at least 50kg (7 stone 12lb) and in general good health.

If you’ve donated before, you can start again up to your 70th birthday and there is no upper age limit for donors who have donated in the last two years.

To book an appointment visit www.blood.co.uk or call 03001 232323.
