DIGGING DEEP: Katie Morris and Rebecca Harrold from Allied Healthcare and Hadleigh mayor Penny Cook at the Dignity Action day

TWO Hadleigh charities received a welcome boost thanks to a successful coffee morning.

The event, which was organised and hosted by Allied Healthcare in Crockatt Road, Hadleigh, featured stalls selling gifts and refreshments and a raffle of donated items.

It helped raise £230.10, which will be split between Hadleigh Thrift Shop and the Hadleigh Community Bus Fund. Rebecca Watkins, Allied Healthcare’s compliance officer, said: “We had about 20 local businesses that donated some fabulous prizes – the whole community was involved.

“Loads of people bought raffle tickets and we had about 30 or 40 people there on the day.”

The coffee morning also aimed to promote dignity for people in care as part of Dignity Action day, while Allied Healthcare clients and their families were invited along.

“We have to respect people’s dignity – not a lot of people realise what is actually involved in caring for someone,” added Miss Watkins.

“If you don’t give someone that dignity, you’re not really caring for them.”
