Businesses urged to help with careers fair
SUDBURY businesses are being urged to give some time to a school careers fair to help young people find work in future.
With rising youth unemployment, schools have more need than ever to work with businesses and the community to help young people prepare for their futures, according to the charity Suffolk Education Business Partnership (EBP).
It is calling for employers in and around Sudbury to support a careers fair at Sudbury Upper School, in Tudor Road, on March 28.
It is one of four careers fairs being run by the education charity in schools in February and March.
The partnership says it is keen to hear from anyone who can help to promote the industry sector, and talk about prospects for young people.
Partnership chief executive Helen Scott-Davies said: “The EBP works closely with schools and employers to give young people the best start to their working lives.
“We’d be delighted to hear from employers, and we can advise businesses who want to help young people but are unsure what they can offer.”
The charity says its website – www.suffolkebp.co.uk – is regularly updated to help teachers, parents, governors and employers keep up with changing employment trends and new opportunities for young people to acquire the skills they need for the future.
