Bus times announced

EVENING and weekend bus services have returned to Hadleigh.

A new service running from the town to Ipswich and back on Sundays and up until 10.30pm on weekdays was launched on Monday.

These trips were withdrawn by Suffolk County Council last year due to public transport budget cuts but, after more than 3,500 people signed a petition calling for the service to return, the decision was reversed and funding provided.

The service is operated by Hadleigh Community Transport Group, which employs 14 part-time staff, and will see all bus journeys going via the Cardinal Park Leisure Area and some evening services stopping at Suffolk One College.

During the week, buses will leave Hadleigh at 7.10pm and 9.45pm on route to Ipswich and return at 8pm and 10.30pm.

On Sunday, the service will operate from Hadleigh at 10am, midday, 1.45pm and 3.45pm. It will then depart from Ipswich at 10.45am, 12.45pm, 2.30pm and 4.30pm.

It is believed the reintroduction of the service will give the town’s residents greater freedom and improve access to education, jobs and entertainment.

The service will be reviewed in February.
