Boards at town gardens need sprucing up

FUNDS are needed to refurbish information boards in Sudbury which have fallen into disrepair.

The Sudbury Society has approached the town council to provide funding to improve the appearance of boards in Siam Gardens. The boards have been damaged by the weather over several years and need a new polycarbonate cover, costing £900, to protect them.

Members of the council’s leisure and environment committee said they would be willing to support the repairs but believed the work could be carried out more cheaply.

Babergh District Council, which owns the boards, has already pledged £450 towards the project and the town council is being asked to fund £200.

The committee agreed to explore obtaining alternative quotes for the work.
