Back to a new school ...

AS a new school term approaches, children at one new school have spent the last few months finding their feet.
The Stour Valley Community School in Clare opened its doors for the very first time in September and the Free Press asked two pupils and a teacher for their views on the first term at the school ...
Year 8 pupil Saoirse Norman, 12, said: “I came from Uplands Middle School and Stour Valley has been the best school I have been to. I actually find that I want to go to school each day.
“I have settled in well and have made friends in my new classes. My favourite subjects are resistant materials with Mr Coe as I love doing the practical work, and history with Miss Terry as I love learning about the past.
“The lessons are all really fun and I am enjoying being at the school. I am really looking forward to doing more period six activities as there are so many to choose from and they are different every term.”
Year 7 pupil Zach Hawkins, 11, said: “I was at Clare Middle School before I started here. I have made lots of new friends and feel really settled in the school.
“The teachers are nice and very supportive, their lessons are always fun.
“I have been enjoying my learning and I am really enjoying food technology with Miss Rowe as I love cooking.
“Science with Mrs Inchley is brilliant as we do practical every lesson. History is also really interesting as we are learning in a fun way.
“I think this school is really great. In the next year, I am looking forward to doing more period six activities and going on school trips.”
Headteacher Christine Inchley said: “This has been a very exciting and productive term for everyone.
“We have gone from having an empty building at the end of July, to having a fully functioning school with excellent teaching staff, an exciting curriculum, a first-class enrichment programme with happy and fully engaged students in a few exhausting months.
“Our students have been outstanding from day one and we have all been so impressed by their fantastic level of behaviour and commitment to their studies.
“I have no doubt that we all have a great future together and I would really like to thank our students, their parents and the wider community for the excellent level of support we have received.”
