Anger over doorstep dog poo

A Sudbury resident said she was “flabbergasted” after finding dog mess on a fellow homeowners’ front doorstep.

Dawn Cornish said discovering the mess outside a house in East Street last week had highlighted the problems the town faced with dog fouling.

“I couldn’t believe it when I saw it,” said Mrs Cornish, who lives in nearby Waldingfield Road.

“I am so angry because the doorstep is about a foot high. It is disgusting to think someone could have just left it there.”

Sudbury Town Council has recently revealed a tougher stance against dog fouling, and claims owners who are caught could be fined up to £1,000.

But Mrs Cornish said this latest incident, following a spate of problems in the Quay Lane area, showed that people were ignoring the threat.

“I am growing sick and tired at the amount of dog mess around the town,” she said.

“People don’t seem to care and I don’t know what the answer is.”

Community warden Bradley Smith, who cleared away the mess on Tuesday, said it was “ludicrous” that someone would deem it acceptable to leave dog mess on a doorstep.

“For someone to let their dog do that is not right,” he said.
