20mph limit rests on trial

TRANSPORT bosses are to consider imposing a 20mph speed limit following a community campaign in Bildeston.

Guy McGregor, the head of transport at Suffolk County Council, told campaigners a reduction to the speed limit from 30mph to 20mph in the village would be considered once trials had been carried out in Fressingfield and Middleton.

Last month, Bildeston became one of 150 villages and towns in the UK to join the 20s Plenty for Us Campaign, calling for a blanket 20mph speed limit.

In the last 10 years, two people have been seriously injured on the village’s High Street, which includes a blind bend.

A further seven people have been left with injuries after road traffic collisions.
