WE would like to thank all those who gave up their time on Good Friday to assist with the annual Sudbury Fun Run. Without all those who marshalled, helped build and dismantle the course, and without those individuals and businesses that either sponsored or provided their services free of charge for the race, it could not have gone ahead.

FOR a long time I have put off writing this letter, hoping things will get better, but to no avail. Walking along the Melford Road in the dark is like walking through a minefield.

READING last week’s Free Press (May 10) report about the drop in trade in Sudbury reminded me of a song from my youth.

I went to the Royal Mail office in Churchfield Road recently but it was very busy so when I saw the sign to say new extended opening hours til 8pm I thought, great, I will call back later when it’s quieter - but what the sign did not say is that you cannot send parcels after 5.30pm.

WHILST staying at my sister’s on Saturday, I read with interest your article about the laptop lease (Our lives are in a state of turmoil, April 5).

HOW much easier it would have been had Suffolk County Council taken notice of local people on the question of road closures in the first place. Who knows better than the people that live and work in Sudbury every day?

THANKS to the initiative of Lord Phillips, Reverend Tony Moore and their idea to archive collections of ephemera in dated portfolios in the town hall, a good number of people have responded with very interesting and important material.
